“Maybe Happy Ending”—maybe, a happy ending.

This 2024 Broadway dark-horse musical tells the story of two robots.

In a helperbot recycling center about to close, two abandoned robots, Oliver and Claire, meet. Oliver is an older model, a “helperbot” built to care for its owner; Claire is a newer model.

One is trapped in memories of the past, the other longs for the future. And this show asks: when you are a robot destined for obsolescence, what could your “happy ending” possibly be?

From Seoul to Broadway

The show’s most distinctive feature is its origin. It premiered in 2016 in Seoul, Korea, as a Korean original musical.

In 2024 it reached Broadway and instantly became the talk of the season—hailed as a heartwarming gem in the sci-fi genre.

Darren Criss’s Oliver, with nuanced acting and singing, won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Actor.
