Trapped in a Town Where Everyone Sings in Four-Part Harmony
How hard is modern dating?
New York doctors Melissa and Josh find their relationship suffocating under routine and exasperation. On a couples’ wilderness backpacking trip to reignite the spark, they lose their way in a swirling mist—only to emerge in an uncanny, pastel-hued town called Schmigadoon.
Worse yet, every resident wears 1940s gingham aprons and suspenders, breaking uncontrollably into golden-age Rodgers & Hammerstein choral numbers. And the curse? They cannot cross the stone bridge to leave until they find “true love.” Adapted from the beloved series, the Broadway musical conquered the stage in summer 2026, capturing Tony Awards and releasing this jubilant cast recording on Joy Machine Records.
Corn Puddin’, Tap Shoes, and Rainbow Bridges
Composer-lyricist Cinco Paul is an encyclopedic master of American musical theater pastiche.
He dismantles and celebrates every titan of the Golden Age: Oklahoma!, Carousel, The Music Man, and The Sound of Music. In the viral earworm “Corn Puddin’”, an entire town erupts into ecstatic barnyard tap dancing over a mundane side dish; in “With All of Your Heart,” a puritanical schoolmarm preaches Victorian repression with bubbly sunshine.
Two-time Tony nominee Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice) delivers manic comedic gold as Josh, the modern cynic utterly bewildered by why townspeople keep belting high C’s in his face. Opposite him, Sara Chase shines with radiant Broadway sparkle, navigating romantic disillusionment with wit and pathos.
Crossing the Bridge
Yet Schmigadoon! is far more than parody. After navigating madcap courtships with townsfolk, Melissa and Josh discover that true love is not an effortless technicolor ballad—it is choosing to stand beside a flawed partner when the music stops.
As the full ensemble swells into the soaring finale, the mythical bridge reopens. An irresistible musical confection guaranteed to make you laugh until your ribs ache and leave you humming all the way home.
